Our love of goats began in 1987 when a Pygmy goat wether named Jeremy joined our family. Jeremy taught us what fun companions goats can be. A year after, Pygmy does Patsy, and Bubbles joined us, and we had an official goat herd called Ahsum Pygmies (pronounced awesome). Through involvement with 4-H we became interested in showing our pygmy goats, and not long after, breeding our does. We continue to breed and show pygmy goats, not only for the love of the goats but for the friendship of the wonderful community of Pygmy goat owners and exhibitors. We are active in the National Pygmy Goat Association, having held offices on the Board of Directors, serving as the Show Coordinator, and becoming a licensed Pygmy Goat judge.

At a friend’s encouragement we started investigating a relatively new breed of goat, Miniature Silky Fainting Goats. We browsed websites, contacted breeders, and learned as much as we could remotely. We were fascinated by the variety of colors and characteristics in the silkies. Then, we went shopping at several farms and we became even more interested in the goats and especially how welcoming the owners were.
Ahsum Acres Miniature Silky Fainting Goats was established in 2018 and we have been breeding and showing miniature silky fainting goats since. Our breeding program incorporates desirable characteristics from the animals we admire the most to hopefully develop our brand. We focus on structure and those characteristics that will make owning silky goats an easy project for beginning goat owners. We continue to learn about the various bloodlines and eagerly await the next crop of kids to evaluate the results. And now, we are also passionate about Miniature Silky Fainting Goats.
